My name is Joselyne UWAMAHORO, 30 years old, and I hold a Bachelor's degree in Nursing. I have significant experience in nursing practice, including health assessments for migrants and refugees(vaccination ;PDMS;Health assessment;TB management;Laboratory sample collection), epidemic management(COVID-19, Mpox, Marburg), emergency care in various healthcare facilities, international humanitarian organizations and UN agencies such as IOM, GVC, and MSF.
-Perform daily nursing activities in MHAC
-Provide information and detailed explanations to the migrants and/or refugees in relation to the migration health assessment process;
-Ensure proper identification and follow-up
-Follow and implement the Health Assessment
-Programme’s check lists and SOP’s and maintain standard universal precautions
-Maintain and monitor the MHAC pharmacy,
-Provide pre and/or post counselling to migrants or refugees on TB or HIV education
-Prepare administrative reports and program
-Assist with pre-departure documents, briefings and preparations as necessary.
At the Hospital: Provides technical support to the hospital on infection prevention and control, raises awareness about waste sorting and adherence to standard precautions.
At the Emergency Department: Provides technical support to the emergency service in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) of critically ill patients, assists the doctor in performing medical procedures (administering IVs, taking vital signs, suturing wounds, collecting samples for emergency tests), and accompanies patients to the operating room or for hospitalization.
In the ICU (Intensive Care Unit): I participated in the continuous monitoring of critically ill patients (comatose patients, victims of road accidents), prepared the resuscitation trolley, and assisted the doctor during resuscitation efforts. I provided nursing care (position changes, hygiene, feeding, monitoring intake and output, taking vital signs, and supervising blood transfusions).
In Internal Medicine and Pediatrics: General monitoring of patients, administering medications as per medical prescriptions, collecting laboratory samples, and managing the service's pharmacy.
